O-Ring HNBR 90 Shore

Description

HNBR is widely used in various areas such as automotive (for coolants, AdBlue, oil and fuel systems), industrial applications, oil and gas, food, pharmaceutical and medical industries.

HNBR is a hydrogenated version of NBR (nitrile) rubber, which is a copolymer of ACN and 1,3-butadiene. However, compared to NBR, HNBR contains fewer double bonds from the 1,3-butadiene monomer units, improving its chemical resistance, thermal stability and oxidation resistance.

Thanks to these properties, HNBR is used in a wide range of applications, such as in the automotive industry for coolants, AdBlue, oil and fuel systems, in the oil and gas industry, as well as in the food, pharmaceutical and medical industries. High resistance to high temperatures, ozone and chemicals make HNBR an excellent choice for applications in demanding environments.

HNBR is known for its physical strength and ability to retain its properties even after long-term exposure to heat, oil and chemicals. Depending on the type of filler and charge compounds, HNBR seals typically have tensile strengths of 20 to 31 MPa at a temperature of 23°C. Thanks to mixing techniques, HNBR can be used in a wide temperature range from -40°C to 150°C and even up to 160°C in oil without significantly deteriorating over long periods of time. For low temperature applications, low ACN HNBR grades should be used, while for better high temperature performance, highly saturated HNBR grades with white fillers should be used. Like NBR, HNBR's fluid and chemical resistance improves with increasing ACN content.

Because of these unique properties, HNBR has found widespread acceptance in automotive, industrial, and other power-intensive applications. In the automotive sector, HNBR is the largest consumer as it is used for a variety of dynamic and static seals, hoses and belts. HNBR is also widely used in industrial seals for oilfield exploration and processing, and in rolls for steel and paper mills.
